Prayers

Places to focus on in Prayer:
Laucala Bay, Fiji – where villagers are planting coastal mangrove seedlings to protect against erosion by rising sea-levels.

People to focus on in Prayer:
All those who seem not to care that their ways of life are causing global warming, rising sea-levels and fatal plastic pollution.

We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers
and all those whose names are on the “Remembrance Tree” in Algitha Road.

We pray for:
Those known to us who after a lifetime of “family” now feel alone – you are not, God is with you, as are friends with shoulders to cry on, hands to hold and legs to pull.

Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve.

The Lectionary readings are –
Mark 1:1-8. 2 Peter 3:8-15a.
Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13 .  Isaiah 40:1-11.

The Promise of the Lord’s Coming.
But do not forget one thing, my dear friends! There is no difference in the Lord’s sight between one day and a thousand years; to him the two are the same. The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead he is patient with you, because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins. But the Day of the Lord will come.

A Prayer by Kate McIlhagga.
God of all time,
God beyond and behind time,
may we know what is too late and what is too soon.
May we always recognize the right time in the light of your timeless love.
Amen.
